COFI launches new petition

PRINCE GEORGE – The Council of Forest Industries (COFI) is launching a new campaign and wants everyone with an interest in the industry to get on board.

It’s as easy as a simple click. COFI has launched an online petition and letter-writing campaign on a website called “forestryisasolution.com”. On that site, you can click on the petition that calls for the “Government of British Columbia to support the workers and families who power the forest sector.” The other option is to send an online letter to someone’s MLA, the Minister in question or the Premier, in support of the sector.

“COFI, with a coalition of resource communities and forestry organizations, has created a new platform called ‘forestryisasolution.com‘ that allows British Columbians to show their support for forestry,” explains Kim Haakstad, President & CEO of Council of Forest Industries. “Every day people reach out to my team at COFI and their friends and family that work in the forestry industry and say, ‘How can we help in this time of crisis?’ And we haven’t had a tangible way for people to do that. So we’ve created this platform to allow people to sign a petition, send a letter to their MLA voicing their support for the forest industry, the workers and the communities that depend on the jobs.”

The petition will initially remain online for three to four months.
