PRINCE GEORGE — Make it 30 wins on the season for the Prince George Cougars as they knocked off the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 at the CN Centre Saturday (Feb. 7) night.

Josh Ravensbergen stopped 31 of 32 shots to pick up win number 80 with the Cougars, who completed the split with the Rockets who won on Friday night.

Dmitri Yakutsenak paced the Cougars offence with two goals, while Brock Souch and Arsenii Anisimov also found the back of the net Saturday. Prince George (30-19-2-0) remains third in the WHL Western Conference with 62 points from 51 games.

Souch opened the scoring in the final second of a high intensity first period. His 19th of the season came after Carson Carels wrapped around a net and fired a pass toward Souch’s stick. Carels, a projected NHL first round pick in 2026, extended his point streak to 15 games in the process.

Yakutsenak then struck twice in the second – at 6:52 and 16:33 – while Anisimov also found the back of the net at 11:17 to put the Cougars up 4-0 after 40 minutes of action.

Owen Folstrom scored a consolation goal for the Rockets at 7:45 of the third to spoil Ravensbergen’s shutout bid.

Rockets netminder Josh Banini, who was playing his first game since Jan. 9, stopped 27 of 31 shots in a losing effort.

Next up for the Cougars is a home-and-home against the Kamloops Blazers (25-17-6-4), who sit fourth in the Western Conference with 60 points from 52 games.

Friday’s game is McDonald’s Night and it will feature a Mega 50/50 with a guaranteed jackpot of $50,000. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
