Police dog, drone help track break and enter suspect
PRINCE GEORGE — A 53-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a frightening incident last Thursday night in Prince George (Feb.5).
RCMP say the investigation began at around 8:30 p.m. when police received multiple reports of a vehicle crashing into the sidewalk near Ferry Avenue and Highway 16 west. The driver of the vehicle was seen running away from the incident site. This vehicle was later found to have been stolen just a short time prior to the crash occurring.
Just a short time later, police received a report of a residential break-and-enter where the suspect had run into an occupied home on Watson Crescent and was scared off by the homeowner. The homeowner reported seeing the suspect, who was described as wearing similar clothing as the driver from the crash, flee into her backyard.
Investigators enlisted the help of our Police Service Dog unit, who began to track the suspect on foot. They also deployed a drone to assist with tracking from above the neighbourhood.
