PRINCE GEORGE — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has cleared the Prince George RCMP of any wrongdoing in a February 2025 motor vehicle incident.

On February 24, 2025 at around 10:20 p.m., RCMP officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a red Chevrolet pickup truck near 10th Avenue and Irwin Street.

The Chevrolet drove off and was later involved in a collision with another vehicle near 15th Avenue and Highway 97.

The driver of the Chevrolet was arrested at the scene.

BCEHS attended and determined two occupants in the other vehicle had suffered serious injuries who were then taken to the hospital.

The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and started an investigation.

The chief civilian director has now reviewed the evidence collected by IIO investigators – including medical evidence, video footage, witness statements and collision reports – and has determined that there no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer may have committed an offence.

The IIO investigation is now concluded, and a public report will be published following conclusion of a related court process.
