QUESNEL — Quesnel R-C-M-P say a driver was issued violation tickets after hitting a man and his dog at a crosswalk Tuesday night, killing the dog.

Police say the 78-year-old man was out for a walk with his dog when he was struck by an S-U-V at the intersection of Flamingo Street and Pentland Crescent.

The Mounties say the man was taken to hospital by an ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, but his dog did not survive the crash.

The driver stayed at the scene to co-operate with police, receiving tickets for failing to yield to a pedestrian and driving with an expired license.
