Feb 21, 2026 | 9:18 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings extended their lead on the Coastal East Division in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) thanks to a 5-3 win at home over the Powell River Kings.

Michael Denney opened the scoring for Prince George early in the first period with a wrist shot from the slot.

Powell River responded to tie the game early in the second, but the Spruce Kings answered back with two goals: Ryan Wachtel squeezing a puck through on the power play and Mason Loewen firing home a wrist shot from the high slot.

However, Powell River scored late in the second and early in the third to tie the game again at 3-3. But Ozbej Rep played hero for the Spruce Kings with a point shot on the power play to give them the lead for good. Carter Hesselgrave put home the empty netter to secure the 5-3 win.

The Spruce Kings improve to 26-14-2-0 on the 2025-26 BCHL season, good for 54 points in 42 games. With 12 games remaining in their regular season schedule, the Spruce Kings are first in the Coastal East Division and second in the Coastal Conference.

The Spruce Kings host Powell River for a rematch on Saturday (Feb. 21) at 6:00 p.m. from Kopar Memorial Arena.
