‘Be in that moment’: Astronaut Jeremy Hansen’s wife prepares for his lunar mission
CAPE CANAVERAL —
Jeremy Hansen sent his love to his family as he left crew quarters with his fellow astronauts Wednesday afternoon in the final hours before the launch window for their historic mission to the moon.
Catherine Hansen wrapped her arms around her children as her husband, standing behind a barricade in his bright orange space suit, said, “I love you,” and flashed a thumbs-up. He and the rest of the Artemis astronauts then boarded a vehicle that took them to the crew capsule.
If everything goes as planned, Catherine Hansen will be on the roof of the launch control centre at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center Wednesday evening to watch her husband begin a 10-day lunar fly-around. She said the family will be trying to take in every single moment.
