PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings fired 36 shots on net Friday night, but couldn’t best Langley Rivermen goalie Eric Young, as the home side dropped game one of the BCHL best of seven series 2-0.
There was no scoring in the first frame, as Prince George would outshoot the Rivermen 13-7 in the frame. Langley potted both their goals in the middle stanza, with Makaio Van Tassel, and Cale Colwell bulging the twine behind Ryder Green.
A shooting gallery from PG in the third wouldn’t be enough to get back level, as Young would turned aside 14 more shots for the opening game shutout. Final score 2-0, despite the shot clock at 36-23 PG.
Game two of the series goes Saturday night from Prince George, puck drop set for 6:00 p.m.
