Clippers on verge of sweep

NANAIMO — The Nanaimo Clippers blanked the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-0 Tuesday night to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the third round BCHL playoff series.

Jack Rimmer scored the game winning goal at the 14:21 mark of the first period – his fifth goal of the post-season. Tanner Bruender added another Clippers goal in the second period while Blake Jones and Maxime Lapointe scored the third and fourth goals in the third before 1,650 fans at Frank Crane Arena.

The Clippers were outshot by the Spruce Kings 26-25 with Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau earning the shutout.

To stay alive, Prince George will need to win tonight in Nanaimo. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. Game 5, if necessary, would take place Friday night at Kopar Memorial Arena.
