Planned burn scheduled near Fort Nelson
FORT NELSON — The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and Northern Rockies Fire Rescue will work together on a prescribed burning across two areas covering a total of about 20 hectares in the Fort Nelson area.
The BCWS said the first unit is a 17-hectare area south of the Alaska Highway, east of Cordova Way. The second is three hectares northeast of the Northern Rockies Regional Airport, near the Fort Nelson Motocross Track.
The burn is planned for Tuesday (May 12), but the exact timing will depend on weather and site conditions.
The BCWS said preparations will begin on Monday if conditions are suitable.
