RCMP urge public to watch for stolen quad linked to additional offences

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are asking residents to keep an eye out for a stolen quad believed to have been used in additional criminal activity across the city.

Police say the investigation began early in the morning on June 12, when frontline officers were called to a business in the 1500-block of Ogilvie Street following a reported theft. According to RCMP, the incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m., when two suspects broke into a secured compound on the property.

Once inside, the suspects located and stole a quad that had been stored on site. Investigators say the stolen vehicle is described as a red 2021 Can-Am 450. The suspects then fled the area on the quad.

Since the initial theft, police say they have encountered what is believed to be the same off-road vehicle on at least two separate occasions. In both cases, the quad was reportedly being used during the commission of other offences.

Officers attempted to engage the driver during these incidents, but police say the individual fled at high speeds each time, evading capture. Those encounters have raised concerns about both public safety and the potential for further criminal activity involving the stolen vehicle.

Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP, said police are now turning to the public for assistance in locating the quad.

“Since the original theft, police have encountered a similar off-road vehicle twice being used in the commission of other crimes. Each time, the driver has fled from police at high rates of speed,” Cooper said in a statement. “We are asking the public to be on the lookout for a similar vehicle and to report sightings to police using our non-emergency line.”

The quad has been spotted in several areas of the city since it was first stolen. Reported sightings include locations between Fifteenth Avenue and Garvin Street, extending to Fifth Avenue and Tabor Boulevard. Additional sightings have also been reported around the Ferry Avenue and Westwood Drive area.

Police are urging anyone who may see the vehicle to contact authorities, but they caution the public not to approach the driver or attempt to intervene.

Investigators say that when reporting a sighting, it is important to provide as much detail as possible. This includes noting the exact time and location of the sighting, the last known direction of travel, and any description of the driver.

RCMP have also released a CCTV image related to the investigation. The image reportedly shows one of the suspects driving the quad. In the photo, the individual can be seen wearing dark pants, a blue jacket, and a backpack.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police continue to work to identify the suspects involved and recover the stolen vehicle.

Anyone with information about the quad or its whereabouts is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP through their non-emergency line.

Authorities say public vigilance can play a key role in helping to locate the stolen vehicle and prevent further incidents tied to its use.
