Conservatives say B.C. hospital overcrowding reaching crisis levels
PRINCE GEORGE – The Conservative Party of B.C. is accusing the provincial government of allowing hospital overcrowding to reach dangerous levels, while the Ministry of Health says significant investments are being made to address growing pressure on the healthcare system.
The criticism comes after the party released figures showing 57 of B.C.’s 80 hospitals are operating above capacity, with some facilities reportedly running at as much as 160 per cent occupancy.
Dr. Anna Kindy, the Conservatives’ Shadow Minister for Health, said hospital overcrowding is affecting patient safety and contributing to healthcare worker burnout.
