Mason Fluharty starts for Toronto Blue Jays in bullpen day against New York Yankees
NEW YORK — Relief pitcher Mason Fluharty is getting the start for Toronto as the Blue Jays open a three-game series in New York against the Yankees.
Toronto’s relievers are well rested for the bullpen day, with only Spencer Miles and Louis Varland pitching in the Blue Jays’ 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.
New York (72-55) holds the top wild-card spot in the American League with Toronto chasing a playoff spot.
The Blue Jays (63-66) are half a game out of the third and final wild-card berth, currently held by the Minnesota Twins.
