Byelection set for Abbotsford-Mission; Conservative Leader to seek seat
VICTORIA — Residents of Abbotsford-Mission will head to the polls next month after Premier David Eby officially called a byelection to fill a vacant seat in the British Columbia legislature.
Final voting day has been set for Saturday, September 26, 2026. The seat became vacant after former MLA Reann Gasper resigned on August 22.
The byelection is expected to draw significant provincial attention, with BC Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay announcing she will run for the seat. The contest will mark an important test for the Conservatives as Findlay seeks a place in the legislature and an opportunity to lead her party from within the chamber.
Candidates from other parties are also expected to enter the race in the coming weeks as campaigning begins across the Fraser Valley riding.
