Elev8 Prince George shifts strategy, unveils list of six incumbents it opposes
PRINCE GEORGE — A local group that initially promised to endorse eight candidates in Prince George’s upcoming municipal election has dramatically changed course, opting instead to publicly identify six incumbent politicians it believes voters should reconsider supporting.
The change was announced during the inaugural Elev8 Prince George Foundation event on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Sandman Signature Hotel, where more than 100 people gathered to hear organizer Jason Luke outline the group’s new direction.
Originally, Elev8 Prince George had promoted the event as an opportunity to reveal eight mayoral and council candidates the organization believed would be a good fit for city hall. However, the announcement generated significant discussion online, with some residents expressing excitement while others questioned the group’s motives, legitimacy and lack of publicly available information.
