Baby boomers more powered up than millennials

PRINCE GEORGE – Despite what they think, baby boomers use more power than millennials.

A new report from BC hydro shows although baby boomers think of themselves as a more energy conscious generation,  they use an average of $500 more in electricity than their younger counterparts.

Boomers use more electricity than millennials because they typically have larger homes, more appliances and luxury amenities, including hot tubs, beer and wine fridges and entertainment systems.

For example, more boomers cook at home and use an oven, along with enjoying traditional cable activities which take more power than eating at a restaurant and using a tablet or laptop to stream shows or movies.
