The 34-year-old Edmonton driver received a seven-day vehicle impound for excessive speeding along with several violation tickets. Those included a $368 excessive speeding ticket, a $109 ticket for failing to produce out-of-province registration, an $81 ticket for failing to produce insurance, and a $598 ticket for failing to properly mount an electronic driver’s log.

The school zone blitz resulted in additional enforcement action as well. Police issued 15 speeding tickets in school zones, four tickets for tinted windows, four tickets for defective vehicles and 10 tickets for various offences, including using electronic devices while driving and failing to produce a driver’s licence.

McLaughlin said BC Highway Patrol continues to conduct enforcement operations across the province.

“We’re working in every corner of the province,” he said. “We’d rather you obey the law and drive safely, but if you choose otherwise, we’ll pass along financial consequences.”

Police are reminding drivers to slow down and obey posted speed limits, particularly in school zones where children may be present.
