PRINCE GEORGE — A bomb threat forced the evacuation of DP Todd Secondary School in Prince George on Wednesday afternoon.

According to School District 57, students and staff were safely evacuated from the school and relocated to Heritage Elementary School. Officials said all students and staff are safe, and students were dismissed from Heritage Elementary at 2 p.m. DP Todd Secondary remains closed at this time.

Prince George RCMP say officers were called to the school on Hill Avenue after a bomb threat was received at approximately 1 p.m.

“We take all threats to public safety very seriously, especially when they involve one of our schools,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C. “Out of an abundance of caution, staff and students at the school have been evacuated from the building while police officers conduct their investigation.”

Police are asking the public to avoid the area while first responders carry out their work.

The investigation remains in its early stages, and few details have been released. RCMP say further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Prince George RCMP.
