Youth arrested following string of break-ins at Prince George pub

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP have arrested a youth in connection with a series of break-and-enter investigations at the same local business.

The investigation began October 6 after a pub in the 200-block of Cherry Avenue reported its alarm had been triggered at about 2:30 a.m.

Police say investigators determined a door had been broken open and suspects had entered the building.

A second break-in attempt was reported at the same location two nights later, on October 8.

Then, at about 1 a.m. on October 15, officers were patrolling the neighbourhood when they noticed the exterior lights activate at the pub.

When officers arrived, police say they found three youth behind the business. Two fled the area while the third remained at the scene.

After reviewing surveillance footage from the previous incidents, investigators determined the youth was likely involved in the earlier break-ins.

The youth was arrested and taken to the Prince George RCMP detachment before being released to a guardian with a future court date.

“This arrest is the result of an extraordinary amount of work by our officers throughout the course of this investigation,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C.

Cooper said the case highlights the “dedication, perseverance, and diligence” officers bring to their work in the community.

The investigation is continuing.

Police are asking anyone who can identify the two other youth seen fleeing the area on October 15, or who has information about any of the incidents, to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers.
