Prince George Legion renews push for new hall and veterans housing
PRINCE GEORGE – A plan years in the making to give the Prince George Legion a new home while creating housing for veterans and seniors is getting a renewed push with a new mayor and council in place.
At the centre of the proposal is a small piece of city-owned property at the corner of Ospika Boulevard and 22nd Avenue, an area proponents say has deep connections to Prince George’s military history.
Craig Douglass, chair of the Legion’s Relocation Committee, says the story stretches back to the 1940s, when the military presence in Prince George was enormous compared with the size of the community.
