Suspects charged in Surrey extortion shootings, including at Kap’s Café
SURREY — British Columbia Mounties say two people have been arrested and charged in two separate extortion-related shootings in Surrey last year, including one that targeted Kap’s Café, owned by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma.
RCMP say B.C.’s extortion task force is announcing the two men, both 22 years old, were arrested Sunday in Surrey and remain in custody, facing one count each of recklessly firing a gun in the incidents on Oct. 12 and Oct. 16, 2025.
In the first incident, police say officers responded to report of shots fired at a home on 103A Avenue, where a woman sustained injuries.
Four days later, police responded to another shots-fired report at a café on 120 Street, where two employees who were inside were unharmed.
