Waitlist For Kids Wanting Mentors At Big Brothers Big Sisters
PRINCE GEORGE- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George mentorship programs help kids who may be in vulnerable situations, or simply kids who’d like to try new things. The organization says having positive role models helps them make good decisions as they grow up. But, many kids in Prince George don’t have that opportunity as the waitlist for a mentor is growing. The waitlist is up to 50 kids which means some may be waiting longer than a year. “We tell families a year to a year and a half, but because we match on a first come first serve basis, really a child could sit on the waitlist until they’re too old to be matched,” said Community Development Manager, Darbi Brand.
The time commitment ranges from one to four hours a week. To become a mentor, contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prince George.
