PRINCE GEORGE – The Takla Nation announced Thursday that they have acquired a majority stake in a Prince George-based foresty consulting company.

The economic arm of the Nation, Sasuchan Development Corporation has entered a share purchase agreement for 53.5 percent of SBS Forestry Inc.

SBS provides pre-harvest and post-harvest services, with the majority of their revenue coming from timber development contracting. Blaine Tallman, General Manager of SBS Forestry Inc. says the company will bring services and training to the Takla Nation, while also provide a new profit centre for Sasuchan.

“Sasuchan has been growth driven from our start, a short 18 months ago,” said Tom Lewis, CEO of Sasuchan Development Corporation. “In that time, we’ve achieved profitability, developed key relationships with industry and government and entered into contract agreements in both the mining and forestry sector. With the acquisition of SBS, we’ll be better able to meet our customer commitments and continue to grow the business.”
