The Timberwolves men’s basketball team came into the weekend needing a win in one of the two game this weekend to clinch a Canada West playoff berth. They wasted no time in getting the win as they beat the Lethbridge Pronghorns 96-90 last night to clinch the playoff berth.

Jovan Leamy had a statline to remember for the T-wolves with 16 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, five steals and three blocks. The Pronghorns were led by Zac Overwater who had a game high 35 points and added 13 rebounds.

Over on the women’s side UNBC already had a playoff spot locked up but were looking to get better playoff positioning. It was a close game throughout the first half but a tough third quarter for UNBC is where the Pronghorns took over. The Timberwolves were outscored 26-8 in the third quarter and could not recover as they lost 77-71.

Madison Landry and Maria Mongomo each had 21 points for UNBC while Asnate Fomina led Lethbridge with 21 points.
