Pandemic means people must be extra cautious in the outdoors
PRINCE GEORGE – The COVID-19 pandemic is putting a burden on emergency resources across the province.
BC’s Search and Rescue teams are asking outdoor enthusiasts to take extra caution if heading into the backcountry, not only to maintain a physical distance but also to be prepared so you don’t get lost or injured.
In the province of B.C., there are around 2500 search and rescue volunteers. They are trained to respond to calls all over the province to help people who have been lost or injured in the backcountry.
With the spread of the COVID 19, there is a risk of virus transmission during a search or rescue call out.
