Nove Voce Heads To Sweden
PRINCE GEORGE – From humble beginnings to international competition. That is the story of Nove Voce, a choir group that was started in 2005.
“We started in 2005 and it was, really, a bit of a lark,” says Robin Norman, the Choral Director for Nove Voce. “The Salvation Army put out a call for people to man kettles. And I’m a voice teacher in town, so I asked a group of girls if they’d like to get together and man a few kettles. We did and everybody had fun working together.”
They then entered a local music competition. From there, it was one successful competition to the next. And now the group, which has grown from nine to twenty, is heading to the Grand Prix of Nations in Gothenburg, Sweden. There they will join 71 choirs from 24 different nations.
This will be the group’s first international competition, which runs over eight days, next August. And they need some financial help. Tomorrow will be #Giving Tuesday which will have exclusive perks for the one day, such as tickets for Nove Voce’s concert in May.
