Mackenzie at a loss over mill closure

After the announcement of the indefinite curtailment in Mackenzie and the Isle Pierre sawmills reduced shifts. Peter Merkley with the Public and Private Workers of Canada says he is very concerned and has no idea what Mackenzie residents will do now.

Victims in death south of Liard Hot Springs identified

Northern Rockies RCMP have identified the victims of a double homicide 20 km south of Liard Hot Springs (near the BC Yukon border.) Chynna Noelle Deese from the United States and Lucas Robertson Fowler from Australia were found dead on the highway. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern Rockies police.

Kings’ Maglio leaves for WHL

A big announcement from the Kings on Friday, July 19. Head coach Adam Maglio accepted a job with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs as an Associate Coach. Maglio had been with the Kings for four seasons and will be replaced by Associate Coach Alex Evin.

Common Tansy slated for noxious weed status

The Regional District of Fraser Fort George has agreed to move ahead and declare the Common Tansy a noxious weed. The weed is toxic to grazers and can taint the taste of cow’s milk as well as cause dermititis reactions in people.

Foodie Friday Economics

Foodie Friday’s kicked off yesterday with restaurants and food trucks and vendors setting up shop at the Canada Games Plaza. The event has vendors prepping in advance and even hiring more staff in order to participate in the event.
