Victoria to announce help for laid off forestry workers Tuesday

Forests Minister Doug Donaldson and other dignitaries will be in attendance at today’s announcement. They will announce exactly how they hope to help workers affected by the downturn in the forestry sector.

Fewer campaign signs

Liberal Candidate, Tracy Calogheros says she is not taking part in putting up campaign signs this year and says, she is in part doing it for environmental reasons. She believes the general public is tried of the amount of signs around election season.

First Fallfest comes this weekend

The first Fall-fest will take place this weekend, kicking off with a pancake breakfast, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion, at 8:30 AM. Live music, vendors, and speakers will be at the event until 2 PM.

Shred away your dirty little secrets: Crime Stoppers Shred It

Crime Stoppers is hosting another Shred-It event aimed at helping the public dispose of their personal documents. The public will be able to shred their documents for a minimum $5 donation at the CN Centre parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 21st.

Annual Terry Fox run raises more than $7,500 for cancer research

The Terry Fox run took place over the weekend, raising $7,500. This year the run was put together by first-time organizer, Ryley Newman.
