Support for Wet’suwet’en
PRINCE GEORGE – More than a dozen people braved the frigid weather to rally on the courthouse steps, marking one year since an injunction was issued against those blockading access for Coastal GasLink for building its natural gas pipeline.
On Monday, Hereditary Chiefs with the Wet’Suwet’en issued an eviction notice on Coastal GasLink and its workers.
Today, a rally in Prince George brought back attention to the issue.
“Now we’re concerned that [Coastal GasLink] is flying in a man-camp and there’s going to be RCMP escort,” stated one of the rally’s Co-Organizers, Vincent Wickham, whose sister Molly was one of 14 people arrested a year ago. “RCMP have already taken control of the Morice River Forest Service Road that’s along the Unist’ot’en territory. and we’re concerned they’re going to bring guns and execute the same kind of violence that they put upon people last year.”
