Cougars sign Singer

The Prince George Cougars announced Tuesday afternoon they have signed Ryker Singer to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

The Cougars selected Singer with the final pick of the first round in this years WHL bantam draft, 22nd overall.

In 32 games played this season, Singer had 30 goals and 21 assists. He also added `28 penalty minutes.

In 7 playoff games, Singer added 8 goals and 3 assists along with 41 penalty minutes.

“Singer, like Brown and Heidt, is an elite scorer in his age group. His shot and release are exceptional,” said Cougars’ Director of Scouting, Bob Simmonds in a press release sent out by the team.

“We’re thrilled to add another cornerstone piece for our future. Having all three of our first-round picks now signed is a great testament to the belief our prospects have in our organization.”

Singer was the Captain of his Lloydminster Bobcats team this past season and was the winner of the AMBHL’s outstanding forward award, and was the co-winner of the outstanding player award. He shared that award with Cougars 3rd round pick Zachary Shantz.

“It’s truly an honour to sign with such a great organization that’s filled with amazing people. I can’t wait to get started,” stated Singer in the same release.

With the signing of Singer, the Cougars have signed all three of their 1st round picks from the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.
