$2 billion bioethanol plant planned for Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – The BC Hemp Corporation based in Prince George announced they will be getting into the biofuels market.

The plan is to build a $2 billion biofuel plant in the BCR industrial area.

The announcement was made on a live Facebook video stream with the BC Resources Coalition Thursday night (May 21).

BC Hemp President Remi Balaj says once the bioethanol plant is in full operation it is expected to employ around 2500 people. WATCH CLIP:

According to the Chief Executive Officer of BC Hemp Michael Fazakas they will use parts of the hemp stock to extract industrial-grade ethanol.

There is also a plan in place for the new plant to produce Jet Fuel.

Once all the proper permits are in place the groundbreaking for the new biofuel facility is expected in six months.

Plans are also in the works for further projects in the region which would total 15 billion dollars of investment.

Earlier this year, BC Hemp announced a $350 million hemp production facility in Prince George. Full Video Story:
