Jun 5, 2020 | 5:00 AM

PRINCE GEORGE— This year’s Relay for Life is going to look different.

2020 will play host to the first ever ‘Relay at Home’ event. Normally, participants gather at the CN Centre parking lot and walk for 24 hours to raise awareness for Cancer, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things have had to change.

“Though it will look very different this year, that doesn’t mean its impact will be any less.”—Aimee Cassie, Coordinator, Relay for Life

The key components of the event—taking place on June 13, from 4-6 p.m.— will still be held virtually, such as the Survivor Celebration and Luminary Ceremony.

Performances by various artists will take place including, Brett Kissel, Paul Langlois from The Tragically Hip, and Virgina to Vegas, along with various others.

The virtual event will be streamed on the Relay for Life Facebook Page and YouTube Page as well.

Following the broadcast, participants will be encouraged to walk their neighbourhoods and organizers are asking teams to display their team signs to share their passion.

Registration for the event is free and everyone is welcome to register.
