PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian early Monday morning.

Police say the collision occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on November 2, at the intersection of First Avenue and Victoria Street in downtown Prince George. According to RCMP, a grey 2020 Honda CR-V was travelling westbound on First Avenue when the collision occurred. The pedestrian died as a result of their injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators. Police say neither criminality nor impairment is currently believed to have been a factor in the collision.

Investigators are now seeking witnesses or video evidence that could help determine exactly what happened.

“Investigators are asking that anyone who was passing through the area at the time and either witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage of the incident or the driving behaviour of the vehicle involved, to please contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line to speak with police,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, BC RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C.

The intersection remained closed for a significant period following the collision while members of the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (CARS) examined the scene and collected evidence.

RCMP extended their condolences to the family and friends affected by the incident.

Anyone with information related to the collision is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line.
