New PG Chamber President hopes to lead local businesses through challenging times
PRINCE GEORGE — There is a new President for the local Chamber of Commerce, as announced at the recent AGM. Kiel Giddens had been with the PG Chamber for the last five years while working for TC Energy.
Giddens signs on at a tricky time as, like most things, businesses have taken a bit of a hit due to COVID-19. He acknowledged the issues at hand and hopes to be able to help right the ship.
“It is an incredibly challenging time for businesses in Prince George, around the province, and in our country. I want to do my part to help give back, to make sure we’re supporting our businesses,” Giddens explained, listing the Support PG campaign as one way of that. “I have a passion for public policy and advocacy. I’d like to keep bringing some of those ideas that we generate as a chamber to elected officials, to the Province. There’s a lot that we can accomplish together and business has a great voice to give and I want to play a part in that.”
Giddens joked, “Todd [Corrigall], our CEO, has a three-month-old at home; I’ve got a six-month-old and three-year-old myself. I think we are trying to make the most tired chamber CEO/President combo in Prince George history.”
