COVID challenging for NSC

PRINCE GEORGE – The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the labour dispute at the start of the year, has certainly made 2020 an interesting year for the Northern Sport Centre.

Board members made a presentation to Council this evening.

While the facility remains closed due to the pandemic, those who run the facility took advantage and did a couple of much-needed repairs. Also, theequipment has been re-arranged to better suit the provisions of the orders set down and potentially address any new ones from the Provincial Health Officer.

The budget presented shows a projected increase in membership revenues, though the presenters tonight were quick to point out that the Board approved the budget before the COVID pandemic closed the doors and were the first to admit the budget will have to be adjusted.

“But they won’t be adjusted until there a re-opening date,” explained Lisa Haslett, Treasurer for the Board.

The City and the University of Northern Bc are equal partners in the Northern Sport Centre.
