PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Fire Centre now classify the suspected human-caused Ancient Forest fire as “being held.”

They estimate the size at .2 hectares and have initial attack crews actioning the blaze.

“It is currently being held but is suspected to be under control by the end of today,” says Information Officer Hannah Harris.

She says there have been four new fire starts within the Prince George Fire Centre the past 24 hours with 59 currently burning overall.

Harris says the Camsell Lake fire west of Fort St. James is 105 hectares and out-of-control.

“The resources on site are 24 BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) firefighters and one helicopter.”

As for the Grizzly Lake fire, that blaze is now 600 hectares and remains out-of-control. She says 26 BCWS firefighters, contract firefighters, and two helicopters are battling that blaze.

Evacuation alerts remain in place for both of those fires.
