PRINCE GEORGE – It was another season with plenty of ups and downs for athletes in the PG Track and Field Club due to the pandemic, one of the downs being that provincials were cancelled.

Instead, the club held a Junior Development Challenge open to kids aged 9-13 across the province this past weekend, with a chance for them to show off their training.

“It was like a mini-provincials,” said Elena Thomas, President of the PG Track and Field Club. “It worked out really well for the kids that were here, we only had two kids from out of zone but that’s better than no kids.”

The full results are available here, but several club members are among the top in the province.

This event was primarily viewed by organizers as a way to show their athletes what a real provincials would look and feel like, so they’re ready come next year for what they hope will be a normal type season.
