South Cariboo man killed when pickup collides with fire truck

70 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A South Cariboo resident is dead after a collision with a fire truck Monday afternoon (July 12).

In a news release, RCMP say the crash took place at about 4:00 p.m. Monday, on 83 Mile Road near the intersection with Begbie Road in 70 Mile House.

It’s believed a man driving an eastbound pickup truck veered into the path of a westbound fire truck, causing the fire truck to hit the pickup behind the cab.

The driver of the pickup, a 64-year-old man from 70 Mile House, was pronounced dead at the scene.
