Cougars still searching for first win, fall to Blazers 8-3

Oct 10, 2021 | 7:13 AM

The Prince George Cougars must wait at least a few more days before securing their first win of the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season.

Wrapping up a two-game road trip, the Cougars fell to the Kamloops Blazers 8-3 on Saturday (Oct. 10).

The game was out of reach halfway through the second period when Kamloops scored their fifth goal, although there were some positives for the Cougars to take home, mostly thanks to three power play goals.

Cougars captain Jonny Hooker scored his third goal of the season in his third game, defenceman Ethan Samson scored a goal and an assist to make him a point-per-game player early in the season, and former second overall WHL Draft Pick Riley Heidt had a three-assist game.

The Cougars return to Prince George to face the Victoria Royals for a pair of back-to-back home games at the CN Centre starting Saturday (Oct. 16) night.
