VANDERHOOF — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has cleared the RCMP of any wrongdoing in relation to an incident that occurred back in February near Vanderhoof.

On February 13, RCMP officers were called to a well-being check at a home on the 1000-block of Kenny Dam Road.

When officers arrived, they found two woman and a man inside. The man was bound by court ordered conditions not to be in contact with the women, and was subsequently arrested.

The man resisted the officer’s attempts to take him into custody and a struggle ensued. The man suffered serious injury in the process but the IIO ruled that in this case the RCMP officer’s actions were not unreasonable, especially considering the officer’s actions were only in response to the man’s decision to become aggressive.
