Amber alert issued for two children in Fort St. John

FORT ST. JOHN —Update:Mounties deactivated the amber alert issued this morning after an alleged parental abduction ended peacefully.

The Amber Alert was issued at 12:15 p.m. today, after Fort St John RCMP believed that Jason Dalrymple had taken Dawn Bellamy and her two children against their will and that they may have been in danger while in his presence. Indications were that the suspect was heading east, possibly to Ontario.

BC RCMP shared this information with police in neighbouring jurisdictions across the country and this afternoon the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that they had located the vehicle and the four individuals in Kenora, Ontario, just east of Manitoba. The man was taken into custody. The mother and her two children are safe and receiving support.

Earlier: RCMP have issued an amber alert in Fort St. John.

RCMP believe that 36-year-old Jason Dalrymple has taken 23-year old Dawn Bellamy and her two children against their will from their home in Fort St John and that they are in danger. The mother and her children were last seen at approximately 11 a.m. on March 24. The suspect is believed to be headed east, possibly to Ontario.

Police say Dalrymple is the suspect.

The four are believed to be travelling in an olive-green 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with B.C. licence plate HT1-84A.

The group was last seen in the area of 8919 91st St., in Fort St. John.

Anyone who sees them is asked not to approach and to call 911 immediately.

Liam Ballamy is described as four feet tall and 40 pounds, with short, brown hair. Myra Ballamy is described as two feet tall and 25 pounds, with blue eyes and very light hair.

Dawn Ballamy is described as 5-5 and 110 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Jason Dalrymple is described as having blue eyes, a moustache and goatee and a balding head. Police say he often wears hats or toques.

Police are looking for this vehicle in connection with the Amber Alert. RCMP
