Man charged after police seize firearm during traffic stop

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP say a routine traffic stop led to the seizure of a firearm and criminal charges against a local man, as police continue efforts to curb unlawful weapons possession in the city.

According to RCMP, a frontline officer was conducting routine patrols on June 24, 2026, when he observed a cyclist riding without a helmet. During the subsequent traffic stop and investigation, officers located a firearm.

Police seized the weapon and arrested the cyclist, whom they identified as 39-year-old Kyle Teegee. RCMP said Teegee has been criminally charged in connection with the alleged possession of the firearm. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

“Community safety is a top priority for Prince George RCMP,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, the detachment’s media relations officer.

“We remain focused on addressing unlawful weapons possession and other activities that pose a risk to the public. We will continue to use all available investigative tools and resources to enhance community safety and support the health and well-being of those who live, work, and visit Prince George.”

Because the matter is now before the courts, RCMP said no further information will be released at this time.

The charges against Teegee have not been proven in court. All accused individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
