Dec 1, 2022 | 5:24 PM

PRINCE GEORGE– On Thursday high school teams from all over BC were welcomed to Cedars Christian School to participate in the 2022 BC School Sports ‘A’ Girls Volleyball Provincial Championship. It’s a tournament the girls have been looking forward to all year.

It’s super exciting because last year there were only seven teams and this year there are a lot more new people. So that’s exciting. I’m looking forward to just playing our best and spending time with my team because it’s my last year this year. – Maddie Erbacher, Cedars Christian School Volleyball

The event started Thursday morning with opening ceremonies and the schools being introduced. Before all the volleyball action kicked off at CNC and the new gym at Cedars Christian school. Principal Shane Nelson is proud to show off the new facility and hopes everyone has a great time.

It’s so sweet to have these kids in our house. Tournaments are hosted in lots of different places across the city. But to have people in our own building is pretty cool just seeing our students be able to come and see that first game together. And of course, 16 teams from across the province, the best of the best for the small schools in B.C. It’s a pretty amazing opportunity. – Shane Nelson, Principal, Cedars Christian School

The tournament will take place over 3 days with the Finals taking place Saturday night at Cedars Christan School. The event is free to attend and the Cedars Christian Eagles volleyball team hopes the Home Court advantage will give them an added boost.

It’s so great that we can have all these fans in the stands and we get the home-court advantage. We’ve been practicing here all season, so it’s really cool to be able to play here. – Emma Ward, Cedars Christian School Volleyball
