Malaspina daycare finds new lease with College Heights Community Association
PRINCE GEORGE — City staff just negotiated a new 15-year lease agreement with the College Heights Community Association to operate a new daycare near Malaspina Elementary. The agreement came a week after the School District backed out of negotiations with the City.
Mayor Simon Yu said in a press release the City is happy to bring more much-needed childcare spaces to Prince George.
“The City and the Association have an excellent relationship cultivated over many years of successful partnerships. We’re glad they’ve stepped up to work with us to deliver these services to our residents”, he said.
The new daycare is one of three facilities funded by the BC New Spaces Creation Fund and the Union of BC Municipalities Childcare Space Creation Fund. They have provided the city of Prince George with nearly $12 million for use in developing 228 new childcare spaces in three different sites.
