PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP issued 21 violation tickets in its latest traffic blitz to crack down on high risk driving.

The enforcement took place April 26 along Ospika Boulevard during the lunch-hour rush.

“In the two hours that police officers were conducting their speed watch, they issued 21 violation tickets to drivers going 25 km/h or more over the posted speed limit of 50 km/h. Our message to drivers is that the roadway is a shared space and we need to make sure we’re keeping the safety of everyone in mind. One way to do this is to make sure you’re staying within the posted speed limit,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

She says one driver was observed traveling 59km/h over the posted speed limit, which resulted in a $368 violation ticket for excessive speed and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. Mounties are encouraging everyone to stay safe on the roadways this summer.
