PRINCE GEORGE — Hotel workers at the Ramada Hotel in Prince George issued 72-hour strike notice on Monday and will be in a strike position this Thursday, June 1 at 11 a.m.
The union and the employer are scheduled to appear in mediation on Wednesday.
The workers are represented by UNITE HERE Local 40 who say most of the 40 housekeepers, front desk agents, banquet staff and Starbucks baristas earn significantly less than the $21.19 living wage needed to support a family in Prince George.
“Workers want the employer to close the pay gap so that they can keep up with the rising cost of living in the area.”
