One arrested downtown after weapons complaint

PRINCE GEORGE — Just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Prince George RCMP responded to a complaint of a man threatening people with a knife in the area of First Avenue and George Street.

Police officers immediately flooded the area and in less than five minutes found a man matching the description of the suspect a short distance away.

The man was arrested for uttering threats and for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and was subsequently transported to Prince George RCMP detachment cells. “The suspect is known to our Downtown Safety Unit for similar offenses.

He was released on an Undertaking with conditions and will attend court at a future date,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. The investigation is ongoing. No injuries were reported to police in this incident.
