PRINCE GEORGE — Carrier Sekani Family Services has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the City of Prince George to support two of its core programs at the Sk’ai Zeh Yah Youth Centre downtown.

In a statement, it says the money will go towards the So’ Co’ Nye Dagilyegh (Peer Recovery Group) and Dunene Najeh – Men Are Healing (men’s group). The two programs provide safe, inclusive spaces and support programming that allows youth to connect through shared experiences, traditional teachings, group activities, and mutual support.

“We are deeply grateful to the City of Prince George for recognizing the importance of youth-led wellness and recovery programs,” Youth Services Supervisor, Kara Myers, said.

“This grant will help us continue to empower young people with the tools, support, and activities needed to thrive.”

Carrier Sekani Family Services says the grant will also support a variety of youth-led activities, including community outings such as group lunches, park visits, bowling, and pool – to foster connection, healing, and personal growth.

The centre on 2 Ave. is focused on providing culturally safe, wrap-around supports for at-risk youth and young adults between the age of 16 and 29.
