Dumpster divers won’t need to take a plunge with new recycling baskets

Recycling baskets have been added to 50 of the around 70 cement garbage bins around the city to prevent dumpster diving. The baskets were added last week, and there are hopes to continue to add more of them to the remaining garbage bins.

Council ponders plastic ban

City Council is looking at the idea to ban single-use plastic check-out bags from local businesses. Administration is currently looking at the idea and will return with a report in September.

Speakers announced for TEDxUNBC

10 speakers, from entrepreneurs, scientists, educators and a performing artist will take the stage at the Canfor Theatre at UNBC for this years TEDxUNBC. The theme, Past the Future will be the topic of discussion this year.

Boundary Road Farmland Vandalism

A local farming family is putting out a plea asking people to respect their newly planted crop and not drive over it with vehicles. The family says the damage was done by a couple of 4×4 vehicles and say their crops will suffer gravely if the behaviour continues.

Ruptured sewer pipe not likely to continue causing issues

A sewer main break caused traffic delays on the hart Highway on Tuesday night. The city says the incident might be a on-off but have their eyes on other potential issues with infrastructure.
