Apprenticeship Advisors added to Northern BC to help with trades jobs
PRINCE GEORGE– The Industry Training Authority (ITA) has announced the addition of more Apprenticeship Advisors across the province.
Starting in September, ITA is brining their total number of advisors to 20 across the province, with new advisors in the Prince George, Terrace/Kitimat, Abbotsford/Mission, Chilliwack, and Vancouver/ Richmond regions.
“The addition of two Apprenticeship Advisors will ensure more people in Prince George access the trades training they need to fill the 18,000 job openings expected in trades professions over the next decade in the Cariboo region,” said Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training. “We’re investing in Northern British Columbia because we need people in all corners of our province to be industry ready in order to continue building the best B.C.”
The advisors aim at building knowledge and awareness of the BC apprenticeship system and provide guidance to apprentices and employer sponsors. The addition comes after the ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training allocated funding to attempt to ensure more British Columbians can have access to skills training and complete apprenticeships.
